March 28 Update Lake Clean Up Planning, March 10 Brainstorming Results, Pott Co. Interest and Boys and Girls Club Support Logistics and Final Planning Session on Thursday, April 6 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We are planning on over 300 volunteers on Saturday, April 8. Registration is from 8:00 – 9:00 AM at Mabrey Park. We are having a final planning session at the Carter Lake Library on Thursday, April 6 at 7:00 PM. Please plan on attending especially if you have a special assignment such as team captain, truck driver, or helping in volunteer central. Clean Up Core Planning Committee Members are: Bonnie Farr, Sue Williams, Mitzi Mossman, Joan Harder, Nan Bateman, and Jeanne Eibes. March 10 Brainstorming Results --------------------------------------- Attached are the results from the brainstorming break out sessions from the meeting. Jeanne and Joan Harder tallied the results and put the comments into categories. Jeanne and the Board of Directors will be developing the concept plan from this information as well as ideas we have received from other stakeholders. Loren Knauss and the Pottawattamie Board of Supervisors ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Loren Knauss, Russ Kramer, Doug Wallingford and Jeanne Eibes, met on Saturday, March 18th to discuss how the county would like to help financially with the lake restoration as well as provide equipment for the clean up. Jeanne and Russ gave Loren a tour of the lake. Loren walked with Russ along the Club Park. Russ showed what the City of Carter Lake has planned for fixing the shoreline and reclaiming some of the ground for a nicer park area. The Board of Supervisors wants to schedule their board meeting at the Carter Lake City Hall sometime in April and get an update on the lake issues. Boys and Girls Club ------------------------ Liz Campbell, Shoal Point HOA, arranged a lunch meeting March 23 with Fred Schott, Andy Smith, Wayne Houston of the Boys Club and Christian Christiansen, a director. Steve Wilbur, Joan Harder and Jeanne Eibes attended as well. The Boys and Girls Club members will be helping at the clean up. They are very supportive of the good things we are trying to do for the lake because the Boys and Girls Club members have not been able to use the lake for two years in their summer curriculum. Funding for Lake Recharge Study ---------------------------------------- Jacobson Helgoth is working on a plan to develop a solution to stabilize the lake levels. The recommended solution will cost money. The Carter Lake Preservation Society has started their capital fund drive. We are asking that you all thoughtfully consider making a donation to help build the lake recharge solution. Please plan on contributing by completing the attached membership and donor card and sending it to Joan Harder.
